Canon 5D replacement may not be coming to PMA 2008

Submitted by Brandon on Tuesday, 22 January 2008No Comment

Some forums are grumbling about the possibility that the there will be no proposed replacement to the Canon 5D being presented at the PMA 2008 event. This may come as a disappointment to some, but it seems that Canon might be retooling the replacement to be more competitive with Nikon’s new cameras.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory, but it seems like it’s coming from a reliable source. You can check out a related forum post here. Here’s an excerpt…

“I wouldn’t be surprised if this is an unplanned delay due to the need to retool the 5D replacement to be more competitive in light of Nikon’s updated lineup”

That’s downright heartbreaking for Canon enthusiasts if this happens, but hopefully the extra time leads to an exceptional camera body.
