How much does a photographer make for a picture on the cover of Sports Illustrated?

Q: How much does a photographer make for their picture on the cover of Sports Illustrated? –Eric from St. Paul

A: Magazine covers and other photographs vary from magazine to magazine due to the size and circulation of the publication. For instance:

SI is read by 23 million adults each week.

These are the standard rates for magazines such as SI, ESPN: The Magazine, TIME, and other magazines of this caliber.

Full Cover $2000.

Leading Off (double-page spread or “Doubletruck”) $1000

One Page $500

1/4 of a page $150

These prices do vary depending on the photographer and if it’s an assignment for one of these magazines.
