Dpreview.com forum post ellicits response about the Canon 50D

Submitted by Brandon on Wednesday, 30 January 20083 Comments

There’s been quite a response to a Canon 50D article we wrote a while back. After someone posted it on the dpreview.com forums, a avalanche of responses followed.

You can read the original story about the Canon 50D rumors that we heard about, but keep in mind that we have stated they’re just rumors and we can’t confirm nor deny the validity of the rumors.

As a blog, we like to keep track of all the buzz on the Internet and try to stay on top of the latest information on the web about new cameras.

Here’s the original forum post:

That the D50 is coming soon? Do you think this is true? Why would they come out with a camera 6 months after the previous one? Just to compete? Our to make us mad? Do people really need to have 2 mp more just so there cameras equal that of the nikons? When will this end? Please tell me.

Check out these responses:

Wow your one gullible person :)

For one of your posts “Just remember how wrong you are when you go to sleep at night. It will make you sleep better.”

I got a newsflash, the 90D is coming out. Sell your 40D quick!

The evolution of cameras does not stop ! Canon has of course made plans for 2-3 generations of future models already and engineers are working hard.

It would be a big mistake to bring new generations too fast - who would ever buy a new camera if there is a new model lurking around the corner every 3-6 months. 12-24 months cycles work better.

So far its a rumor..but i would not be surprized if canon changed the relseasing time from 18 month to 12 month or less..things are changing fast and the competition is heating up…

laptops are changing fast why not digital cameras like canon 40D

You’ve got to love the Internet and the interaction it brings. People have to realize though that what we posted were rumors and we clearly stated that. Saying that we’re announcing or saying that the 50D is ridiculous we’re just merely taking the pulse of the Internet camera community.

“Staticvision” is someone I am rather dubious about. He writes reviews of camera’s he does not own, specifically the Pentax K20D & K200D. He basically bashes anything that does not correspond with his own paradigm. Just wanted him to know that I am aware of his MO!
