5 black and white photography tips

Digital photography school has a nice post about some things you can do to improve your black and white photography.

Here are the five tips that they gave:

1. Shoot in RAW (if your camera has it)

2. Shoot in color (and then turn your photo to black and white later, your photos will turn out better if you have color information to work with)

3. Shoot in the lowest possible ISO (because grainy photos stink)

4. Shoot on dark or overcast days (they really present low contrast situations)

5. Compose your shots well (you don’t have colors to entertain people anymore so make sure the photos are interesting to look at)

Digital Photography School is much more in depth than I am, as their 5 tips to make your B&W photography better is a very nice read.
