Autofocus vs. manual focus

Auto-focus may make our lives easier, but does it necessarily give us the sharpest photos possible?

Nature Photographers.net has a nice look at the difference in results between an auto-focused photo and a photo that is focused manually.

The tester uses a Canon 1d Mark II and a Canon 1d Mark III and then a Nikon D200, so the results are pretty universal. Check it out, it make make you think twice before snapping that landscape or nature shot while in AF mode.
