After a D3x was mentioned on the firmware update for the D3, rumors have been flying all over the Internet. But Nikon’s not saying whether or not they’re true.
Amateur Photographer magazine can’t seem to coax an answer out of Nikon, so I don’t know if the rest of us will be able to do it either.
Nikon withdrew update version 1.10 on 18 April, just three days after announcing it , telling users this was a result of ‘customer feedback’.Asked whether the rumours are true, Nikon UK said in a statement: ‘Nikon strives to observe customers’ evolving needs and to develop suitable products for their requirements. However, Nikon is unable to comment on the development of any future products before their official announcement.’Nikon tells us that it withdrew the firmware update after reported ‘technical issues’ and that this matter is not connected to rumours about a new camera.
I think that it would be kind of ridiculous to assume that Nikon pulled the firmware just because of the D3x instead of the photo-corruption problem that it had. Instead of fabricating a story about problems with your product, it would be much easier just to deny the D3x rumors. So I think their was a legitimate problem with the new firmware for the D3 and I think that.
So where are we at? No answers. Just questions.
