Kodak earns the respect of Consumer Reports

Some of Kodak’s point-and-shoots, the M853 and the M883 have earned mention in the Consumer Reports magazine.

Here’s the story from Democrat and Chronicle.com:

One of Eastman Kodak Co.’s subcompact point and shoot cameras was singled out as a good, economical buy by Consumer Reports. The magazine, in its July issue that will be on newsstands this month, does its annual ratings of point and shoot and SLR digital cameras.

Kodak’s EasyShare M853 and M883 were included in the rankings of subcompact cameras that fit easily in a pocket, while its EasyShare V1253 was included in rankings of advanced cameras.

The magazine singled out the $120 M853 as a “best pocket camerafor less.” In the overall ratings, the M853 had a score roughly comparable to the Nikon Coolpix L12 and the Pentax Option Z10.

You really don’t hear much from the quality of Kodak’s cameras, as Nikon and Cannon seem to hog all the attention. But before you go out and buy a compact camera, you may want to check out Kodak’s choices as well. For the full news story, head over here.
