L.A. police chief says Britney Spears’ behavior now keeping paparazzi calm

Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton recently brushed off efforts by celebs and the city council to place more control on the aggressive paparazzi since, as he told KNBC-TV, “If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God, and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don’t seem to have much of an issue.”

Bratton also said, “there are currently on the books sufficient laws, rules and regulations” to control the paparazzi, and in some cases that may be true—two photogs were recently nabbed up by cops for loitering outside Britney Spears’ home.

The chief dismissed L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine’s proposal to establish a “personal safety zone” for celebrities, since it would be too ambiguous, saying “Who’s a celebrity? You? Me? By definition we all think we are celebrities. Nothing is going to happen with this issue. I can guarantee it.”
