Vermont company holds funeral for film

Vermont company holds funeral for film

As traditional film photography wobbles on its last, already flimsy legs, the last professional film processing company in Vermont shut down this week and held a funeral for film to commemorate the event, complete with a gravestone and a bunch of people acting solemn.

The bottom line, of course, is that it costs money to keep a pro-quality development lab open and they weren’t bringing in enough bread.

We don’t have for you an exact count of all the pro photogs still shooting with film who will be affected by this situation, but we’ll venture a guess that the figure sits somewhere between “very few” and “not many.” The only state with fewer people than Vermont is Wyoming.
