It’s official: Nikon has six new point-and-shoots

Nikon has announced the release of the P6000, a 13.5-megapixel point-and-shoot that takes the helm as the new flagship model in the Coolpix series, as well as five other Coolpix cameras that include new features such as a touch-screen interface and the ability to e-mail photos or upload them directly to flickr.com.

The Coolpix P6000, which according to Nikon will be available in September for about $500, has full manual settings, shoots RAW, has a standard flash boot and comes with optional accessories like a new 0.76x wide-angle converter (the WC-E76–shown in the above photo). It also has a GPS function that allows shooters to mark their images with “geotags” that record the latitude and longitude where the photos were shot so you can share those with friends.

The Coolpix S60 has a 3.5-inch screen with a touch-screen interface that allows users to scroll through images using their fingertips while in playback mode (coverflow, anyone?), to write notes or draw on images if they so choose.

It’s the S610c that allows folks to e-mail or upload pics to flickr.com, and you can do so using a Wayport subscription that runs through August 31, 2011, according to Nikon’s release on the camera.

“The cameras introduced today represent some of the most cutting edge technology on the market including GPS, touch-screen capabilities and Wi-Fi transfer,” said Bill Giordano, general manager marketing of COOLPIX for Nikon in today’s release. “These cameras not only have features to help consumers take great pictures, but they also enhance the fun factor in photography for everyone, from first-time shooters to experienced photographers.”
