Nikon D90 rumor roundup
A Slovenian site appears to have a listing for a Nikon D90, the anticipated successor to the 10.2 megapixel, prosumer D80, and a Circuit City employee is claiming the camera will go for $1,299, Nikon Rumors reports.
Here’s a screen shot of the site.
We don’t happen to speak much Slovenian here, but we do know that “NOVO” means “NEW” and “jesen” means “fall.” NR says this is the official Sigma dealer in Slovenia. Check out their pricing info here.
A few days ago NR posted these specs, which were re-posted on Engadget.com and elsewhere:
- Live view
- Built-in microphone
- HDMI and GPS connectors
- 12 effective megapixels
- 4.5 frames per second
- Video recording
- New 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 DX lens with Vibration Reduction
Those have been swirling around for a while, and it’s anybody’s guess where they came from. Photographer and blogger Ken Rockwell has a quite sensible, if not that intriguing take on all the fuss:
“The D90 is purely speculation. The D80 was announced in the summer of 2006 and shipped in early fall 2006, so it’s been two years…The D90 will be announced via press release…Everything else you’ve heard is baloney since the people who know aren’t telling.”
Rest assured, as soon as we know more about the alleged D90, you’ll know. Meanwhile, enjoy this D90 shot that’s been floating around the Web:
