Canon 50D and Nikon D90 image/video samples posted

The folks over at Dpreview have had the chance to play with both a Nikon D90 and a Canon 50D for a few days, and they’ve posted the fruits of their labor online.

There’s a note on Dpreview’s home page stating that they were informed by Canon that the 50D they had was a “pre-production” version and that the shots were to be considered “beta” version images. Still, the samples images posted in their sample gallery are crisp and colorful.

The D90 shots are snazzy, too. We were expecting quality images from both cameras, so perhaps not surprisingly the real head-turner here is the stunning quality of the Nikon D90 video clips. The footage looks professional quality—nothing camcorder or point-and-shoot-esque about it. You can see a bit of Nikon’s “Vibration Reduction” coming into play in the short clips. Just the same, as David Pogue of The New York Times said in his review of the camera, “Independent filmmakers, rejoice.”

Check out the Canon 50D shots here and the Nikon D90 shots here.
