Rumors about Canon 1Ds Mark IV specs begin to swirl
A year and a half after the release of the EOS 1Ds Mark III, rumors about its successor have started to circulate, beginning with a set of specs posted on a Chinese forum indicating that the EOS 1Ds Mark IV would include predictable technological advancements.
As eager as we all may be to believe these are accurate–perhaps especially those photographers who have been plagued by the Mark III’s unplanned “squishy autofocus” feature–let’s keep in mind that this is a forum posting from an unknown man sitting behind the Great Firewall of China.
But of course we’re all curious, so let’s see what we could be in store for:
- 21 megapixel, 36×24mm CMOS sensor
- 24 fps and 30 fps movie mode
- 69-point autofocus
- USB 2.0
- HDMI output
- Two DIGIC IV image processing chips
- Continuous shooting at 6.8 frames per second
The forum post also mentions two new lenses to be released concurrently with the new camera:
- A new 100-400mm f/4.0-5.6 IS lens
- A new 50mm f/1.4 USM lens
