Adobe releases Camera Raw 4.6 plug-in with Digital Negative Converter
Adobe Systems released today an update for its Camera Raw software that contains a Digital Negative Converter to convert raw files to Adobe’s Digital Negative format.
Most camera manufacturers have their own, proprietary raw (minimally processed) image format–for example Pentax uses PEF, Nikon uses NEF and Canon uses CRW or CR2.
Digital Negative Converter allows you to switch those files to DNG, a standard, publicly available raw format that Adobe released last year with the idea that, “By addressing the lack of an open standard for the raw files created by individual camera models, DNG helps ensure that photographers will be able to access their files in the future.”
