Circuit City owes Nikon, Olympus a combined $30 million
Circuit City–the major electronics retailer that this week filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy just after announcing that it would shutter more than 150 stores and lay off thousands of employees–owes major camera manufacturers Nikon and Olympus a combined $30 million.
Circuit City owes Olympus roughly $15.1 million, Bloomberg reports, and owes Nikon $14.9 million.
The two camera giants are among dozens of suppliers Circuit City owes, with computer manufacturer Hewlett Packard topping the list. The ailing chain – the largest retailer to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy since K-Mart in 2002 – owes HP more than $118 million.
In spite of those numbers, numerous analysts have told various news sources that the bankruptcy isn’t likely to be devastating for major electronics manufacturers.
