Link of the day: ‘Pavement Terror’ shows frightened Britons react to backfires

Here’s a unique experiment: While working as a delivery driver in Southampton, England, Howard Stone discovered how to make his van backfire loudly, and then set up a camera to document people reacting to the bang.
Stone writes that he avoided retirees and doctors, among other groups, out of “(partial) consideration for my fellow man.”
He’s posted a few of his favs on his site. These aren’t mind-boggling images, but it’s a fun–if marginally heartless–idea and definitely worth a look.
“I never knew what I’d captured until I developed the film and I had a lot of failures,” he writes on his site.
